While I had one baby on me and others within the cradle was working 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet it was still a long distance to go. For furnishing the space it would take a lot of effort with regards to budget and time. I would also have to go out and shop for my most-loved items. To keep my budget sound, I travelled with three of my boys to look for bargains at estate sales. We would go from the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales, buying old and new furniture. In the end, I painted and sanded the driveway in the week. Looked a little something like this... That's when my interest in the restoration of furniture first began. The issue was not whether the house was already decorated. I also had a booth at the market, where I would sell items. In the end, I was stuffed with too numerous pieces of furniture to fit into the room available. Over 1000 people visited my home over the course of a weekend to buy everything on the ground floor. Growing Days is the result from this. Growing Days wasn't just an incredibly successful business, but it was also a loving family. Being a new mom I was able to strike the right equilibrium to start my own business and also being a decent mother. Growing Days was the obvious decision. My daughter Nora became our fourth child. It was a great direction for my business however, I needed a vacation. I decided to take some breaks from my old furniture and remain at home with the children. In the beginning, this was exactly what I needed. It wasn't until a couple of months when the phones began to call. I was getting calls from people asking me to help with their home improvement as well as interior design. The majority of them visited my home at my open house for furniture. As I went along I began adding clients to my list each day. However, it didn't take long before I had multiple clients and ran an extremely successful business of home renovation. If you'd predicted that this venture of mine could become an idea for a TV show on DIY Network I probably would have laughed. When I look back, it still makes me smile.
